99 Problems But My A/C Ain't One Of Them
As a homeowner, you know that things around the house need constant upkeep. Weeding, mowing, tree trimming, oiling hinges, and other fun projects such as these can keep you extremely busy on the weekends! With all the home maintenance items on your list, you don’t need to add air conditioner troubles!
Here are three easy tips on how to keep your A/C working
1. The filters in the A/C return grills need to be changed monthly during the summer months, despite the three-month rating on the filter packages. It’s worth it because the cleaner the filter, the more air can flow through your home. Dirty filters are one of the main factors in preventing cool air from getting through. One of the first steps to keep your A/C working is to change the A/C filter regularly.
2. Change the batteries in your thermostat. Since the thermostat is what tells the A/C unit to turn on, keeping it fully charged is necessary. Batteries should be changed once a year, just to be safe. It’s an unpleasant surprise to come home and realize your air conditioner is not working, all because of weak batteries!
3. Check the fuse box. This applies in situations when your air conditioner suddenly stops running or won’t turn on. When the temperature outside reaches extreme highs, the breaker can trip or a fuse can blow. As always, be careful when dealing with electrical issues. If you see any burned fuses or wires, you should call us. If the breaker tripped, you can reset it yourself. This should cause the unit to cycle back on, but if not, call us!
These tips can save you time and money, as well as provide peace of mind. Don’t let your A/C become a problem!
