Routine Maintenance Part 1
Your air conditioner works hard, especially during the summer! There are lots of moving pieces to your air conditioner, and it's important to make sure everything is working right. Clark Heating & Cooling recommends regular routinee maintenance on your climate control system. Your home’s A/C should be checked once in the spring, and your heater should be checked once in the fall. You'll want to make sure your system is ready to keep your home at a comfortable temperature before the upcoming summer or winter season.
Preventative Maintenance
We call these check-ups “preventative maintenance” visits. We like to compare the air conditioner to a car-it gets a lot of mileage, and you need to give it the care it needs to keep it running well! Preventative maintenance visits can save you money and stress in the long run. Often, small parts fail or begin to weaken (especially after the intense summer heat). It's important to catch a small issue before it becomes a big problem.
Routine Maintenance Prevents BIG Problems
The picture above is a destroyed blower wheel inside the A/C unit. The blower wheel is the part that moves the air through the air conditioner. As discussed in our previous post about Freon, the air movement through the A/C unit is necessary for the cooling process. In our example above, the wheel went out of balance due to normal wear and tear. However, the issue was never corrected, and the wheel failed in the middle of the night. Routine maintenance would have caught the problem, but the blower wheel kept running, and since it was out of balance, it eventually exploded, damaging the blower motor as well. This means the motor has to be replaced now too, which could have been prevented.
